Scalp Pigmentation

in Kitchener-Waterloo

This semi-permanent procedure involves implanting pigment into the scalp (scalp tattoo) to create the illusion of natural hair follicles. Our technicians recreate the appearance of hair to cover scars, bald spots, uneven hairline, thinning hair or even simulate a full head of hair for a denser look. Check out our photo gallery below!

Service Options

Scalp Micropigmentation

Gradual Layering: The process typically begins with a conservative approach, adding a light layer of pigment. Subsequent sessions build upon this initial layer, gradually increasing the density and darkness of the "hair" to create a natural look.

Colour Matching: Achieving the perfect colour match to your natural hair or desired shade is crucial for a realistic appearance.

Scalp Variations: The texture, colour, and condition of the scalp can vary among individuals. Some areas of the scalp may absorb pigment differently, making it necessary to adjust the technique and pigment density for a consistent appearance.

Healing and Settling: After each SMP session, there is a healing and settling period. The initial appearance may seem darker than the final result. As the scalp heals and the pigment settles, the color and appearance may change slightly, so additional sessions may be needed to make refinements.

Hairline and Design Precision: Achieving a natural-looking hairline and design precision is a delicate process. Fine details, such as the shape of the hairline and the appearance of hair follicles, may require multiple sessions to ensure symmetry and accuracy.

Client Preferences: As the SMP process unfolds, clients may have specific preferences and requests for adjustments. Additional sessions can accommodate these changes and ensure the final look aligns with the client's expectations.

Camouflaging Scars or Imperfections: For clients seeking SMP to conceal scars, imperfections, or other irregularities on the scalp, achieving a seamless blend between the SMP and the surrounding hair or skin may require multiple sessions to achieve optimal results.

Fading Over Time: Over the years, the pigment used in SMP may fade or change in color due to exposure to the sun, skin characteristics, and other factors. Periodic touch-up sessions can help maintain the desired appearance and address any changes.

It's essential for clients to have realistic expectations and to work closely with experienced SMP practitioners who can assess their unique needs and provide guidance on the number of sessions required to achieve their desired look. While multiple sessions may be necessary, the end result is often a natural and low-maintenance solution for those looking to address hair loss or aesthetic concerns on the scalp.

Multiple sessions may be necessary in order to achieve the desired look.

what can I expect from the procedure?

We can control the density of the follicles according to each client's preference and natural look. For example, for women, we want to give as much density as possible to create a natural effect and blend in with her own hair, therefore we create many follicles. For a completely bald man, we create low-density of follicles that are not over-saturated to look natural. For a man that has some hair or has been through a hair transplant procedure and now has thin hair, we will do a medium density of follicles.

The results are immediate. As soon as you walk out of the door, it will look like you have more hair and you will feel more confident. This procedure should last between 1-3 years, depending on how well you take care of your scalp and minimize sun exposure.
