What is Hair Simulation?

Both men and women worldwide are struggling with hair loss and balding. Hair simulation using the NPM roller technology provides an immediate solution to this problem. Instead of using powders, wigs, or painful and expensive hair transplants, you can obtain the same look by getting this procedure.

This procedure creates an optical illusion by inserting permanent micropigments into the scalp using a single needle or roller consistent with the client’s natural follicle.  We recreate the appearance of hair to cover scars, bald spots, thinning hair or even a full head of denser looking hair. Once we complete the procedure, it looks like the client has new hair follicles coming out.

We can control the density of the follicles according to each clients preference and natural look. For example, for women, we want to give as much density as possible to create a natural effect and blend in with her own hair, therefore we create many follicles. For a completely bald man, we create low density of follicles that are not over saturated to look natural. For a man that has some hair or has been through hair transplant procedure and now has thin hair, we will do medium density of follicles.

The results are immediate. As soon as you walk out of the door, it will look like you have more hair and you will feel more confident. This procedure should last between 1-3 years, depending on how well you take care of your scalp and minimize sun exposure.

What shades are available?

The basic shades are dark black, medium black, dark brown and light brown. They can be combined to obtain sub-shades.

Is the treatment Painful?

There is some discomfort with the procedure, however we do everything possible to make it manageable. A topical anesthetic is used at the start of the process and during treatment.

Is the procedure permanent?

This micropigmentation procedure is like a tattoo, however the micro needles used to achieve a natural look do not implant the ink as deeply into the scalp as needles used in traditional tattoos. All tattoos will fade over time and may require periodic touch ups. Lighter colors fade more quickly than darker colors. However, this is variable from person to person and depends on how well you take care of your scalp.  Scarred areas also fade more quickly because scar tissue does not hold the ink as well as normal healthy skin. 

Is this a one-time procedure?

Sometimes, but it can take several sessions to achieve the look that you desire, depending on the depth of color and density you want to achieve. The number of required sessions is variable from person to person, as each individuals scalp may retain or reject the ink differently. For example, in cases of head scars more sessions may be required because scars can reject up to 50% of the ink after the first session.

What is the healing period like after the procedure?

There may be some swelling and soreness the day after the treatment and the scalp will appear darker for the first few days. After a few days, the scalp will start to form scabs and peel/flake off making the color appear lighter. Peeling lasts about a week. The total healing process takes approximately 4 weeks.

What are the treatment instructions after the simulation process?

  • Do not shower for 12 hours post treatment.
  • Exposure to the sun is prohibited for at least 14 days post procedure
  • Do not bathe in the ocean, pool, Jacuzzi /hot tub or use a sauna for at least 14 days post procedure
  • Do not itch or peel scabs in the treatment area.
  • Apply a cream following the technicians recommendation twice a day for ten days
